Ebtesam's Story:

Ebtesam had to leave Syria because of war, and immigrate to the United States in 2016. At first, she lived in Arizona with her husband and four kids. In Arizona she worked in partnership at a restaurant cooking and selling food. Then she moved to Pittsburgh in 2020 with her family. Ebtesam enjoys cooking because it cheers her up when she misses home. She wants and hopes to work again when her youngest three-year-old is old enough to go to school. However, for right now she is focused on taking care of her kids and husband. Recently she got her citizenship and wants to visit back home to see her mother and the rest of her family which includes her father and siblings. Ebtesam chose this dish because it’s her oldest daughter favorite, and she shows her love to her by cooking her this meal and that’s why she wants to share it today. Shows her love through cooking.

About the Dish:

One of the most delicious primary dishes in the Arab world is made with stuffed grape leaves. There are many various ways to make it, and some of them go by different names, such "Diwali" or "Yalanji," etc. Today I'll demonstrate how to make it with pomegranate molasses, which gives it a delicious flavor that is balanced between sweet and citrus notes without disguising the distinct flavor of the grape leaves. When I served this dish to my family, they were very impressed, and they were shocked when I told them I added pomegranate molasses! I want to share this tasty meal now that vine leaves are in season!.
